Freedom Summer: A Conversation

The Legacy of Activism from 1964 to NOW Atlantic City

The African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey (AAHMSNJ) has reopened to welcome individuals, groups and to host gatherings at the Museum within COVID-19 guidelines. These challenging times have forced us to adapt and health and safety our friends, supporters and the community are of the utmost importance to the museum. While our traditional large scale receptions may look different, we are excited to host a Freedom Summer panel discussion that showcases Atlantic City's \pivotal role in the Civil Rights Movement.

The AAHMSNJ Freedom Summer panel will include the museum’s Founder and President Ralph Hunter, Atlantic City Councilman and NAACP President Kaleem Shabazz, Dr. Donnetrice Allison, Program Chair for Africana Studies at Stockton University, and Stockton University Special Collections Librarian Heather Perez.   Panelists will discuss the national and local significance of a period that is still relevant in today’s fight for equality and justice.

We hope you will help us support our sustainability efforts to strengthen the Museum's legacy. AAHMSNJ has set a goal to raise $5,000 to support the Museum's exhibits, programs and operations. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Museum.
